Five Charlottesville High School students have successfully auditioned to join the prestigious National Honors Choir, sponsored by the American Choral Directors Association.

CHS seniors Oscar Gromoll and Sophia Kawecki, and juniors Levi Hofman, Ruby Hoier and Bebe Wolfe competed against approximately 16,000 other high school students from around the country to earn a coveted position in the National Honors Choir, which has an acceptance rate of less than 5%.

“Not only is this an amazing achievement for our choir program and school, it speaks volumes about the tremendous value our community places on the arts,” CHS Choir Director Will Cooke said. “To have five students from a small high school like Charlottesville High School audition into a national level choir is an enormous accomplishment. I am very proud of each and every one of them.”

The five CHS students will sing with the National Honors Choir during the 2027 American Choral Directors Association National Conference, which will take place March 7-10, 2027, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
